Notice to Players
(This information supplements the Championship entry and the Local Rules and Terms of the Competition for 2024 USGA Championships)
Pace of Play: The pace of play is 4 hours and 30 minutes Please see Pace of Play Policy for further details.
Score Card: Posted local rules in the clubhouse and/or on the Lake Merced Golf Club scorecard are not in effect.
Tees: Play will be from the USGA Tee Markers wherever they are situated.
Out of Bounds is defined by perimeter fences and the nearest inside points at ground level of white stakes. The concrete areas of the parking lot and around the clubhouse are out of bounds. The driving range is out of bounds defined by the nearest inside points of the white stakes.
Obstructions:
- Crushed rock cart paths are immovable obstructions. Relief without penalty is available in accordance with Rule 16.1.
- Artificially surfaced paths, stone curbing, walls, steps, permanent restrooms and permanent water stations within or immediately adjacent to each other are deemed to be one obstruction.
Obstructions Close to the Putting Green: Model Local Rule F-5.2 is in effect.
Protection of Young Trees: Identified by stakes. If such a tree interferes with a player’s stance or the area of his intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 16.1 (Immovable Obstructions).
Deciding Ties: A hole-by-hole play-off will start immediately after the conclusion of play for the last qualifying spot and/or position of alternates.
Final decisions on disputed points will be made by Ryan Gregg, Rick Leoncio, Joan Caldwell, Teddy Antonopoulos and Bob Miller.
