Format:
Two 18-hole rounds of individual stroke play. Contestants will play from the USGA Tee Markers wherever they are situated (see Yardage sheet). The low individual scores will advance to Final Qualifying for the U.S. Open Championship at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club (Course No. 2), Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina on June 13 – 16, 2024. Any play-offs will take place immediately after the conclusion of play for the last spot and two alternate positions.
Competition Schedule:
Starting times will start at 7:00 AM off Holes #1 & 10 Tees and 12:30 PM off Holes #1 & #10. Please be at your assigned starting time as soon as the previous group clears the tee.
Practice Round Information:
Lake Merced will host one complementary practice round per player. Sunday, June 2 - Times available from 1:00-3:00. May 29-30, after 3:00. Participants should contact Lake Merced Club Pro Shop at 650-755-2233 to arrange a practice round time. Carts are permitted during the practice round at the cost of $50.00. Arrive 45 minutes prior to your practice round. Practice facilities closed after your practice round.
Spectators Information:
Spectators are welcome to attend this event and must walk and stay to on the cart paths and remain at least 25 yards away from the players.
Cart Information:
Automotive transportation is prohibited. Players and caddies must walk. SPECTATOR CARTS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
Caddies:
Caddies are permitted.
Practice Balls:
The range will open at 6:00 AM and golf balls will be provided to players on the day of the qualifier.
Payment Information:
Major Credit Cards are accepted for purchases in the golf shop and The Turn Cafe Only.
Food and Beverage Information:
The Turn Cafe will be available from 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Credit Cards ONLY for purchases. Bottled water will be available to the players on the 1st and 10th tees.
Lodging:
The Hampton Inn, less than 1/2 mile from the course, has a discount rate for those associated with this event. Click HERE for information.
Withdrawals:
Players who wish to withdraw from qualifying after the close of entries, must notify the USGA Championship Administration Department at (908) 326-1950 or via e-mail at champs@usga.org. The player must also notify the NCGA at (831) 625-4653 prior to the scheduled qualifying round. Failure to do so may result in a future entry for USGA Qualifiers to be declined.
Refunds:
Players can withdraw by logging into their account and clicking on the WITHDRAW tab.
- Players who withdraw prior to the close of entries will receive a refund of $150 regardless of reason.
- Players who withdraw after the close of entries and prior to 72 hours of the qualifier will receive a refund of $100 regardless of reason.
- Players who withdraw within 72 hours of the qualifier or after will not receive a refund.
ADDITIONAL RULES INFORMATION
Rules Information:
Play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the United States Golf Association and R&A Rules Limited and are supplemented by the 2024 USGA Hard Card. The on-site Rules Committee will provide any additional Local Rules needed at the qualifying site. It is the player’s responsibility to know the conditions of the competition. Questions will be settled by the on-site Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. The competition is final when all scores have been approved by the Committee.
Distance Measuring Devices:
The use of a conforming distance measuring device, as prescribed in Rule 4.3, is permitted during Final Qualifying rounds.
Drivers/Golf Balls:
The Local Rule requiring that all golf balls used be on the List of Conforming Golf Balls is in effect. See Model Local Rule G-3. Please check the USGA website, www.usga.org, for a list of approved golf balls and drivers.
Grooves Condition:
The Local Rule as prescribed by Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect, except that the Exception in the Model Local Rule does not apply. You may check to see if your grooves are conforming by using the Informational Club Database - http://www.usga.org/InfoClubsDB/intro.html
Automotive Transportation:
The Local Rule prohibiting the use of motorized transportation as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.
Prohibition on Certain Types of Shoes:
The Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. Model Local Rule G-7.
